SIAL Paris 2024 – Africa Summit
I had the privilege of participating in the Africa Summit at SIAL Paris 2024, where I spoke on the theme "Food Cultures: A Heritage in Motion." This event provided a unique platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities of preserving and evolving African culinary traditions.
As part of my intervention, I presented Ftartchi, a project led by the Association Patrimoine pour l'Économie Solidaire (APES). Ftartchi is more than just a culinary initiative—it is a bridge between tradition and social innovation. By combining a culinary training center with a socially-driven catering service, Ftartchi empowers homemakers, migrants, and young people by equipping them with professional skills while celebrating Tunisia’s rich gastronomic heritage.
This experience reinforced my belief in the power of cuisine as a tool for inclusion and social transformation. By valuing and professionalizing culinary skills, we not only create economic opportunities but also contribute to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
Bringing Ftartchi’s mission to an international stage was an honor, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for food as a vector of empowerment and cultural resilience.
